King Charles III Charitable Fund – Small Grants
King Charles III Charitable Fund (KCCF) is the working name of The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation. Founded in 1979 to support the then Prince of Wales’s charitable work, it aims to transform lives and build sustainable communities by funding a wide range of good causes within its core funding themes.
Over the past 40 years, the fund has invested more than £100 million in charitable causes in the UK and overseas.
Objectives of Fund
The scheme provides small grants to support independent UK registered non-for-profit organisations for grassroots, community-based projects that fall within its core funding themes:
- Heritage and conservation.
- Education.
- Health and wellbeing.
- Social inclusion.
- Environment.
- Countryside.
Who Can Apply
Applications are accepted from UK registered not-for-profit organisations, including charities, community interest companies and parish councils, that have:
- An annual income of less than £1 million.
- Completed at least two years of activity.
- Less than six months of unrestricted free reserves.
Applicants must have waited at least one year from the date of any previous unsuccessful application or one year from the date of the end of the award period for previously successful applicants.
Restrictions
Funding is not available for:
- Individuals.
- Public bodies.
- Local branches of non-profit organisations which are part of a federation with a single or central governing body.
- Organisations that mainly distribute grants to other organisations.
- Organisations that are tackling food waste, food insecurity or food poverty. (These organisations may apply to the Coronation Food Project grant programme.)
- Organisations with political associations or interests.
- Capital expenditure, with the exception of community-based heritage conservation and restoration projects aimed at preserving the fabric of historic buildings.
- Organisations with consistent late regulatory reporting history.
Eligible Expenditure
The funding is for community projects that fall within the KCCF’s core funding themes:
- Heritage and conservation – heritage, conservation and restoration projects at places of worship and community buildings. KCCF is interested in funding non-capital projects that improve the fabric of buildings for the benefit of local communities.
- Education – education and training projects outside of The King’s Trust scope and age range, including support for people with special educational needs.
- Health and wellbeing – community projects and initiatives which support health and wellbeing of people with disabilities or life limiting illnesses in disadvantaged communities. Applications for respite care, young carers and complementary therapies would be considered.
- Social inclusion – community and art projects that aim to relieve poverty, loneliness and other social issues or support the welfare of the elderly, veterans and interfaith cohesion.
- Environment – community environmental projects (including the circular economy), economic sustainability initiatives and conservation of the natural environment.
- Countryside – projects that transform improve living conditions in rural communities, especially those which help to preserve and enhance the countryside and the people who live and work there. NB Most of these projects are administered by The Royal Countryside Fund – Supporting Rural Communities Programme
Across all of these funding themes, there is particular interest in projects in deprived communities across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
In addition, KCCF is keen to support organisations that are able to demonstrate that the project/activity would support a diverse community or group of beneficiaries.
How To Apply
Applications open on 10 February (9am) and close on 24 February 2025 (noon).
The February 2025 round is open to organisations working across the Social Inclusion and Health and Wellbeing funding themes in the priority areas: Wales, Northern Ireland, East Midlands, West Midlands, North East and the South East.
