Active Lives

The Active Lives Survey is a world-leading approach to gathering data on how children engage with sport and physical activity. This will give anyone working with children aged 5-16 invaluable insight to help understand children’s attitudes and behaviours around sport and activity.

Leap coordinate the collection of data from local schools on a termly basis. Each term, Leap will notify the selected schools and support them to complete the survey.

Participating in the Active Lives Survey offers several benefits:

• Automatic assessment for the Department of Education’s Healthy Schools rating scheme.
• A tailored report from Sport England, outlining your school’s results across various measures such as activity levels, physical literacy, and wellbeing.
• Eligibility to select free sports equipment as a token of appreciation for your participation.
• One free place per school to our PE Conference 2026 – LEAP

This is what a secondary school teacher told us about their experience of completing the Active Lives Survey:

“We were asked to complete the Active Lives survey and it was really simple.
The teacher questionnaire took a maximum of 5 mins.
I was able to send the QR code to the selected pupils and they were able to log on during form time and completed the survey which they found easy to do too. Overall a great way to gain an insight with little stress and time needed.”
