What are Community Connectors?

Community Connectors are recruited from the area or community they are working with and connect with their community to understand barriers, issues and challenges to engage with local services and physical activities. They gain the trust of residents to support and give a voice to help shape services and activities to help health and wellbeing.

Our Community Connectors will focus on active lifestyles.

Why Community Connectors?

Inequalities exist in physical activity between communities and this impacts on the physical and mental health, employment and life chances of these residents. We believe regular movement and activity can help reduce these inequalities.

Who are our Connectors?

Our Connectors are hosted by charities and community groups with experience of engaging with a particular community or area. Leap will fund their time and guide the Connectors for 3-4 years.

There are currently three host organisations:

Aylesbury Caribbean Lunch Club: Supporting the black and Caribbean community in Aylesbury.

South Asian Public Health Organisation (SAPHO Care): Supporting the High Wycombe South East Asian community.

Truby’s Lunch Club: Supporting Muslim women and their families in Milton Keynes.
