What is moving minds?

Getting active has physical and mental benefits for our health, but finding the motivation can sometimes be a challenge. When you feel low, anxious and overwhelmed, it takes incredible courage to do something new. Joining a group activity can boost willpower, but a lack of confidence, money and local groups can make this difficult. Moving Minds is a project which was set up to address this need.

Across Bucks and MK we worked with local clubs and instructors to provide sessions that are suitable for those suffering from a mental health condition. Clubs attending mental health awareness training and demonstrated their desire to support those that needed helping hand to get get or stay active.

We have gathered a list of activities below from coaches and instructors who have undertaken UK Coaching and Mind’s ‘Mental Health Awareness for Sport and Physical Activity’ workshop and whose sessions should be suitable for people who maybe anxious or worried about joining a new group.
