What is the Local Skills Accountability Board

The Buckinghamshire Local Skills Accountability Board (LSAB) brings together organisations, employers, and local partners to identify the employability and skills gaps within our local area and identify how; we as a board, can support people to join the workforce, ensuring they have the right skills, training and qualifications in place, to provide best practice to our service users. Connecting the dots between Health, Education, Sports, Physical Activity and Movement, this group of professionals have a shared vision to improve the wellbeing of others and provide more opportunity for growth and learning.

The LSAB encourages diversity and inclusion to ensure the communities we work in feel understood, heard, and accepted.

Behind them, three others; dressed in light blue, orange, and dark athletic wear mirror the pose. Soft natural light filters through large windows, creating a calm and focused atmosphere.

How the LSAB Supports Leap’s Vision

Together with CIMSPA, Leap manages the relationships on the Buckinghamshire Local Skills Accountability Board, by supporting our partners and board members to shape career pathways in sport, physical activity, movement, and leisure. We help ensure that training and education reflect the real needs of the sector, and we connect physical activity with health and care to support community wellbeing. By using data to guide decisions, we help tailor outcomes to meet the needs of Buckinghamshire’s diverse communities.

This partnership directly supports Leap’s vision to grow and inspire a skilled workforce that improves wellbeing through movement and sport. Together, we champion skills development, encourage collaboration across sectors, and support strategic investment in training and education. Our mission is to make career pathways more accessible, promote lifelong learning, and ensure the workforce reflects and serves the communities it supports.

2025/2026 Priorities

For 2026/27, the Buckinghamshire Local Skills Accountability Board (LSAB) is focused on promoting career opportunities across the sport, physical activity, movement and leisure sector by sharing its Career Pathways booklet with students and young people. The aim is to raise awareness of the wide range of roles available and support informed career decision-making, helping more people see a future within the sector. The Board is also reviewing and enhancing its approach to work experience, ensuring opportunities are meaningful, representative of the industry, and provide valuable insight into the skills and careers available. In recognition of the growing importance of prevention, wellbeing and active lifestyles within local and national health priorities, the LSAB will continue to strengthen links between health, education and employers. By working collaboratively, the Board aims to ensure that training and education provision reflects both workforce demand and the evolving health needs of Buckinghamshire’s communities. A key priority is building a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the people of Buckinghamshire, creating opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds to develop their skills, access quality employment and thrive within the sector.
