On June 26th, 2024, the historic Old Swan in Wycombe was buzzing with excitement as it hosted the annual Buckinghamshire School Awards. The event celebrated the positive impact our schools make to children and young people across Buckinghamshire.
Leap were proud to sponsor an award for schools who made their pupils’ health and wellbeing a priority. Mark Stokes, Head of Children and Young People, reflects on the evening:
Honouring Excellence in Education
Following the comical start the awards presentation began. Categories included New Teacher of the Year, Inclusion Lead and many others.
The worthy finalists for the Health and Wellbeing Award, sponsored by Leap were:
- The Wellbeing Leads and DSL, Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School
- The Pastoral Team, Oakridge School
- The Chilterns League
Congratulations to the winners, The Wellbeing Leads and DSL at Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School. Our Chair Sue Imbriano, former Director of Children services at Buckinghamshire County Council presented their award.
They have created a successful positive culture in which both physical and mental health thrive and have embedded improving the wellbeing of their pupils into the whole school strategy. Health and wellbeing is promoted as part of day-to-day school life.
A Night to Remember
The ceremony was interspersed with comedy from compere Alex Horne and also the individual awareness of individual sponsors for each award.
Sponsoring the Health and Wellbeing Award was important to our team. We wished to highlight the fantastic work in local schools to improve the health and wellbeing of all pupils, particularly those who wouldn’t usually choose to engage in sport.
Final Thoughts
The Buckinghamshire School Awards 2024 was more than just an awards ceremony; it was a celebration of the dedication, hard work, and passion that define Buckinghamshire’s educational community. It was a night where the spotlight shone brightly on those who inspire, educate, and lead the way in shaping the future.
As we look forward to next year’s event, the stories and achievements celebrated this year will undoubtedly continue to inspire and motivate teachers, and schools across the county. The Buckinghamshire School Awards serve as a powerful reminder of the impact of education and the importance of recognising and celebrating excellence in all its forms.
