Supercharge Your Facility for Women and Girls
Secure a grant of up to £25k for items to make your facility more inclusive, safe and welcoming for women and girls.
To make your application as strong as possible, clearly outline how the proposed improvements will benefit women and girls, and how your site will maintain and build on these enhancements in the future.
What Funding Can I Get?
We’ll fund a maximum grant of £25,000, that does not exceed 75% of the total project costs and you’ll need to contribute the additional 25%.
The minimum grant you can apply for is £1,500.
The grant can only be used for a defined list of eligible items, which are detailed here.
Is this grant available for your club?
You can apply for the Lionesses HERe to Play Fund to facilitate regular, organised, community or grassroots football. This does not include ad-hoc or unsupervised play. You may be asked to evidence this as part of your application.
You can apply now if you’re:
- A not-for-profit football club or voluntary group*
- A Local Authority
- A County FA
- A Professional Club Community Organisation
- An educational establishment providing facilities for the community
- A registered charity
- A not-for-profit company
- A community interest company (CIC) or other social enterprise
- A company limited by guarantee
*If you’re a Football Club applying for a Football Foundation grant, you must be the Chair, Secretary or Treasurer of that Club to submit an application and co-sign the required forms. We’ll verify that you hold one of these roles, when you set up an account with us.
You can’t apply if you’re:
- An individual or sole trader
- A national governing body
- A commercial / for-profit entity
- A club within the Premier League, Football League, National League System (Step 1 to 6), Women’s Football Pyramid (Tier 1 – 4) or the Welsh Premier League
- Educational establishments providing facilities solely for their students
HOW TO APPLY
To manage high demand and ensure all clubs/organisations get the funding they need, we ask that applicants make no more than one application per season unless otherwise agreed with the Foundation. We encourage you to carefully review the eligibility criteria and prepare all necessary information before beginning your submission.
Once your application is received, it cannot be amended or resubmitted, so make sure it reflects your project’s goals and impact clearly and completely.
This application doesn’t affect your organisation, should you wish to apply for an additional Football Foundation grant such as goalposts.
Please note that we cannot accept multiple sites under one application.
- Read our guidance on how to make your facility more welcoming and inclusive for women and girls. Carry out research and consult the women and girls using your site to create a list of eligible items you’d like to apply for.
- Create a Football Foundation account, or log back in if you already have one. Make sure your account has:- A verified organisation-Two verified contacts- A verified site where the items will be used

- Once you’ve logged in, return to this page and select apply for funding now.You’ll only be able to access the Lionesses HERe to Play Fund application form using this link.
- Complete the application form – this is what you’ll need to apply:-The list of items you want to apply for – please ensure you’ve familiarised yourself with the eligible items and grant limits.-A short description of how the items will make your facility more welcoming and inclusive for women and girls, and ensure you have liaised with your County FA to have a plan to develop the women’s and girls’ game.-Quotes from at least two suppliers- Please make sure you have thoroughly read all of this guidance and also checked out our Support and Guidance page for preparing your application.-If you’re a club, you need to have completed, signed up for or be on the waiting list for The FA’s Equal Game workshop.
- Once you’ve submitted your application, we’ll send you a confirmation email. Your application will then be assessed by our Grant Management Team. We’ll aim to get back to you within ten working days with a link to download your decision letter and Terms and Conditions on your Football Foundation account.
- If your application is successful, we’ll provide you with the funds.
