The Rothschild Foundation’s Grassroots Grants Fund supports local organisations in Buckinghamshire, particularly those addressing disadvantage and inequality. The Fund offers support to incorporated community groups, including newly established small-scale charitable organisations, who do not already hold a Rothschild Community Fund grant.

Purpose:

Support is available to groups and organisations offering solutions that address:

  • Homelessness
  • Financial hardship
  • Physical and learning disabilities
  • Mental health and wellbeing

You will need to be able to show a clear need and demand for the services you want funding for.

We will ask you to share a report at the end of your grant period so we can hear how your project went.

What support is offered:

Grants of up to £5,000 for one year which can be for project, core or capital costs.

If the funding is only for a capital project, other parties should also help cover the costs.

What can’t we fund:

  • Grants that are for the benefit of individuals, overseas travel, promotion of religious or political activity, animal welfare, campaigns or repayments of loans.
  • The costs of activity that has already taken place.
  • Activity that is a statutory responsibility of a public body.

Who can apply:

  • Not-for-profit Charities, Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIO), Community Interest Companies (CIC limited by guarantee) and incorporated groups, societies and sports clubs.
  • Organisations newly registered with the Charity Commission or Companies House that do not yet have a set of annual accounts may apply.
  • Organisations with an annual income of under £1 million annually.
  • Organisations should be based in Buckinghamshire (excluding the City of Milton Keynes area) or you will need to demonstrate that at least 60% of your beneficiaries are based in Buckinghamshire.

 Who should not apply:

  • Organisations holding a grant from or planning to apply to the Rothschild Foundation’s Community Fund will not be eligible.
