MK PEP – Insight Gathering

Over the last few months, MK PEP, a partnership of organisations working together to tackle the challenges people face to being active, have been working with eleven communities in Milton Keynes to understand what helps and hinders people from getting physically active.

Working on behalf of MK PEP, the Open University have spoken to around 400 people and have gathered very important information to help shape future investment.

Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to gathering that information so far. Key themes in what people have said stops them getting active are:

  • Personal challenges
    • No time to exercise
    • Health challenges
    • Not good enough
    • Safety concerns
  • Need more local clubs and activities
  • Don’t know what is going on
  • Need more local places to go
    • Parks and playgrounds
    • Youth spaces
  • Going to activities is difficult
    • Buses are unreliable
    • Activities cost too much
  • Need more people to lead activities

We would love to know if you agree with what has been said so far or if you feel there are other things that need to be included. You can do this by completing a short survey.
